| "One of the major technical problems of STAR WARS was creating robots that were both believable and engaging. Originally, director George Lucas wanted his mechanical people to be the real things. But the science of robotics was not advanced enough to accomodate his needs, so time-consuming compromises had to be made. The final results seem to have pleased everyone: See-Threepio and Artoo-Detoo, the robot stars of the movie, are becoming 'pop' heroes!" |
