"QUEEN The companion to Opera, and the band's first self-produced album, A Day at the Races, arrived in 1976 and yielded the singles 'Somebody To Love' and 'Tie Your Mother Down.' A six week American tour followed Queen's next album News of the World in early 1977. 'We Will Rock You' transcended its original 'B' side and together with 'We Are The Champions' resulted in a double 'A' hit single from the album. Jazz, released in 1978, marked both Queen's first album recorded away from home and, after two self-produced albums, a reunion with Roy Thomas Baker as co-producer. Jazz produced a second double 'A' hit single for the group: 'Fat Bottomed Girls/Bicycle Race.' Queen's first live album, Queen Live Killers, released in June 1979, was recorded on the Queen European tour during January-March 1979. The high energy double disc, with its dazzling full color sleeve (as with all Queen covers, was conceived by the group itself) captures the unique feeling Queen conveys in their concerts." |
