| Kirk came to the top the hard way. As a youngster he had to sell papers to help with the family finances and worked his way through high school and college. During the War, he was an officer in the Navy and upon his discharge, he went to Broadway, landed a role and scored a success. Hollywood beckoned him and Kirk's portrayal of "The Champion" won him international honors. Kirk is a fine athlete. |
