Grant Routs the Confederate Army
'The show-down that has been brewing for the past several weeks exploded with sudden viciousness this afternoon as the Northern
soldiers bravely charged at their enemy and smashed the Confederate Army. Grant ordered General Thomas to try to seize the
Confederate line at the base of Missionary Ridge. The men did this and continued up the mountain, completely routing Bragg's
Rebel Army. In the meantime, General Sherman was involved in combat with a small group of Confederate soldiers without making
any headway. Thomas' men came to the rescue of Sherman and the Confederate forces at Missionary Ridge are now completely
shattered. President Lincoln has appointed General Grant the commander of all the Union Armies.'
