Rebels Slay Top Union Officers
'A group of Union soldiers were slain by Confederate fighters this afternoon, in the dining room of a Georgia mansion. The Union troop
evidently thought it would be fine to dine in the abandoned Southern home. A detachment of Confederate soldiers had other ideas when
they heard the sounds of revelry coming out of the mansion. Several daring leaders dashed through the front door and into the dining
room on horseback. The startled Union soldiers had no time to reach their weapons which were in another room. One of the intended
victims wore his gun and drew it to shoot. Before he could strike, a sword flew through the air and landed in the soldier's
midsection. The Rebel troop poured into the dining room and slaughtered the intruders.'
