Deanna Calkins - Age: 18, Team: Hobie, Specialty: Slalom
Deanna's skateboard career began just a year ago, and already she has established herself as a top competitor. Deanna placed 1st in
the Women's Pro Slalom event at the 1977 Catalina Classic (soon to be aired on ABC Wide World of Sports). Her credits include a
skateboard commercial for soda pop in Japan, as well as a documentary film on skateboarding for the British Broadcasting Company (BBC).
Deanna feels that women have much to contribute to the sport.
